Taking on Responsibility
Siblings dedicated significant time and energy to “being there” for their brother or sister living with bipolar disorder. However, over time they learned they needed to give attention to their own lives and their partners and children. Although they were initially overwhelmed, their lives were not dominated by their sibling’s struggles. They acknowledged the challenge of taking on responsibility for their brother or sister.
