Mental health crisis response teams

Crisis teams of mental health professionals respond to requests for help for someone experiencing a mental health crisis. The team responds to phone calls and can go to the location of the crisis and evaluate what is needed. Referral to other professionals and follow-up services, including hospitalization, is provided if needed. Availability is usually 24 hours a day for 7 days a week. Call a crisis team if your family member is suicidal, psychotic, has out of control behavior, or is threatening to harm themselves or others. Phone numbers for crisis teams are specific to the county where you live. It is a good idea to put the phone number for your county's mental health crisis team in a place where you can access it quickly.

Other options for help in a crisis include national and local suicide prevention hotlines.
